Winter is here! During the coldest season of the year, what could be better than a few tips to protect your hair from the cold? L’Artisan Brossier has gathered 5 essential tips to keep your hair strong and healthy.

1 – Choose natural materials 🌱

In winter, go for scarves and hats made of wool or silk. These natural fabrics help reduce friction and static electricity, both of which can weaken and damage your hair. Unlike synthetic materials, natural fibers are gentler on your strands. The same goes for your brushes and combs—opt for wooden combs or natural boar-bristle brushes, which have antistatic properties and help care for your hair naturally.

2 – Tie it up and trim it ✂️

When temperatures drop, don’t hesitate to tie your hair up. A braid, bun, or ponytail will limit exposure to cold air and wind, helping preserve your hair’s fibers. Just make sure not to tie your elastics too tightly or wear the same hairstyle every day to avoid breakage. You can also freshen up your look with a little trim—cutting off split ends helps revitalize your hair.

3 – Never go out with wet or damp hair 🚿

Another essential winter hair care tip: always dry your hair before going out. When your hair is wet, the cuticles stay open, making it more vulnerable. Letting the cold and wind get in can make your strands porous and dull. If you use a hairdryer, keep the temperature moderate and use a boar-bristle brush while blow-drying to help smooth the cuticles and add shine.

4 – Hydrating masks, always ✨

Apply a moisturizing mask two to three times a week. The best masks are made from natural ingredients—and you can even make your own! Here’s a simple homemade recipe:

  • Mix two tablespoons of plain yogurt, two tablespoons of aloe vera gel, and one teaspoon of honey.
  • Leave it on for 30 minutes, then rinse it off with a gentle shampoo.
  • Remember: hydration is the key to strong, healthy hair.

5 – Healthy body = healthy hair 🩺

A balanced diet is essential for hair health. Hydration is just as important—drink about two liters of water a day and you’ll notice the difference not only in your hair but also in your skin and overall well-being. Some foods are particularly beneficial: red berries, spinach, salmon, and almonds are great choices for stronger, shinier hair.
